Tangle drawing is a small class, based on the Zentangle ® method of drawing, originating in America. It is non-representational, is not planned ahead of time and produces a miniature work of art, which can be finished in a relatively short period of time. The only equipment needed is paper, pen & pencil, although some artists do start collecting different pens for different effects, and sometimes different papers in different colours. Each pattern is given a name and there are literally hundreds of patterns out there.

I have found this method of drawing to be very relaxing and meditative as you are concentrating on each stroke of the pen. There is a lot of information on the internet regarding Zentangle ® if you are interested, have a look at Zentangle.com and tanglepatterns.com. I was so interested in this that I decided to do the training in September 2020 and am now a Certified Zentangle® Teacher.

The photos show some of the artwork produced during a session of 2 hours. We all started using a couple of patterns and then went off in our own directions. If you feel that you couldn’t do work like this, just remember:

“Anything is possible, one stroke at a time”

The sessions are held in my home, so at the moment, the class is full, but I am happy to start a waiting list.
